Indicator 2.4.1. Proportion of agricultural area under productive and sustainable agriculture
Sub-indicator 2.4.1.7. Proportion of agricultural land area that has achieved an acceptable or desirable level of net farm income
Measures farm activity if it is consistently profitable over a three-year period.
The SE420 Farm Accounting Network aggregate (Net farm income) is used as the indicator, and only farms for which data for the last three years are available are used.
Farms are classified according to the number of times the indicator is greater than zero in the last three years, and assigned to a class (green=3 years >0, yellow=at least one year >0, red=all three years <0). Finally, the hectares of usable agricultural area (SE025) corresponding to the farms in each class are added up and the percentage of area in the green and yellow classes is found.
