Metadata Sub-indicator 9.4.1.2. CO2 equivalent emissions by resident units per unit of value added. Manufacturing sector
Goal 9. Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation
Target 9.4. By 2030, upgrade infrastructure and retrofit industries to make them sustainable, with increased resource- use efficiency and greater adoption of clean and environmentally sound technologies and industrial processes, with all countries taking action in accordance with their respective capabilities
Indicator 9.4.1. CO2 emission per unit of value added

Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from resident economic units in the manufacturing sector per unit of real gross value added, regardless of where they actually occur
\[ PVABECO2_{manufacturero }=\frac{E C O 2_{\text {manufacturero }}^{t}}{V A B_{\text {manufacturero, } 2015}^{t}} \]Where: \(ECO2_{\text {manufacturero }}^{t}\)are C02 emissions from the economic units resident in the manufacturing sector in year t (the total national CO2 emissions from the Air Emissions Account are distributed according to CO2 emissions by Autonomous Communities of the National Greenhouse Gas Inventory (GEI)) and \(VAB_{\text {manufacturero, 2015 }}^{t}\)is the gross value added of the manufacturing sector in chained volume with reference 2015 in year t.

The emissions allocated to the manufacturing sector correspond to the following codes in the SNAP classification (Selected Nomenclature for Air Pollution): 0103, 0104, 03, 04, 060101, 060106, 060107, 060108, 060201, 060203, 060204, 060301, 060302, 060303, 060304, 060305, 060306, 060307, 060308, 060309, 060311, 060312, 060313, 060314, 060401, 060402, 060403 and 060404 The indicator uses as total carbon dioxide emissions data (CO2) to the atmosphere the one published by the Emissions to the Atmosphere Account, which accounts for emissions from all resident units, regardless of the geographical location where such emissions actually occur. It is different from the data of the Inventarium of Emissions to the Atmosphere that accounts all sources of emissions in the national territory.
