This indicator shows the trend in the percentage of area of settlements included in the protected areas collected in the Spanish Inventory of Natural Heritage and Biodiversity.
The occupation of the soil is determined from the UNFCCC classification incorporated in the Forest Map of Spain, corresponding the settlements with the class of ¿artificial¿. This information is combined with the digital cartography of the protected spaces included in the Spanish Inventory of Natural Heritage and Biodiversity (Protected Natural Spaces, Natura Network 2000 or Areas protected by international instruments).
