Distribution of expenditure by residents on their visits abroad by country of destination

This study analyses the information on spending by residents in Spain on their visits abroad by country of destination. The information is obtained from bank card transactions carried out by residents in Spain on their trips or excursions abroad. These banking transactions include: card transactions carried out in person, i.e. payments made through POS (Point of Sale Terminal), as well as cash withdrawals at ATMs and e-commerce.

The objective of this study, as well as others related to tourism included in the Experimental Statistics, is to increase the efficiency of operations related to tourism, as it offers variables studied in the Resident Tourism Survey (RTS) with greater precision and disaggregation due to the origin of the information. These data should therefore be seen as a complement to traditional data sources.
