Description
The indicator measures a country's total energy needs, excluding all non-energy uses of energy vectors (i.e., natural gas used to produce chemicals, not for fuel).
Calculation method

'Primary Energy Consumption' covers the energy consumption of end users such as industry, transport, households, services and agriculture, plus the energy consumption of the energy sector itself for the production and transformation of energy, losses that occur during energy transformation (for example, the efficiency of electricity production from fuels) and energy transmission and distribution losses.
