Description
The indicator measures the generation of food waste in production, manufacturing, distribution, food service and households all the different stages of the supply chain. The indicator differentiates between the generation of waste produced by the primary sector (farming, fishing), the food industry, retail sales, hospitality and households. Most of the food waste is generated by households, where most of the consumption takes place, along with hospitality, while the primary sector, production and manufacturing, and retail sales have the option of using by-products to avoid generating food waste.
