The main objective of the Statistics on the generation of wasteis to make available regular, representative and comparable data in order to quantify the total amount of waste genereted in the different sectors of the economic activity (agriculture, fishing, aquaculture, industry, construction, services ad households). The purpose is to asses the national and community policy in matters of environment.
In the industrial sector, waste resulting from the industrial activity of companies and its final destination is investigated, specifying the use of public containers or recycling points, the delivery to authorised manager or other destinations; the services sector and construction researches from the generation of sanitary and biological waste by hospitals to the generation of mineral waste of construction and demolition by construction companies.
