The Registered Health Professionals Statistic has been developed by the INE since 1952. Each year it provides information to ascertain the number of health professionals in a registered situation in Spain, according to the different health profession Councils and Associations.
Data is currently collected from doctors, pharmacists, dentists, veterinarians, psychologists (with the field of healthcare), physicists (with the field of healthcare), chemists (with the field of healthcare), qualified nurses, physiotherapists, chiropodists, opticians and optometrists, nutritional dietitians, speech therapists, occupational therapists, dental technicians and biologists (with the field of healthcare) and dental technicians and biologists (with a healthcare speciality). Within the group of qualified nurses, those that are from the specialisation of Obstetricians - Gynaecology (Midwifery) are also provided.
